about
This song was the first song I wrote in the apartment in University City (St. Louis, MO), a place we called “Headquarters” which is where we recorded the self titled EP and the same place I wrote most of the material for it. It’s a very introspective look at myself and what sort of lifestyle I was beginning to live. Its about the strive to become something but dealing with many set backs and hurdles that make it seem impossible sometimes. Also, its about finding out that sometimes youre the only thing keeping yourself from your goals, and happiness in life. I used this song when it was written as a way to heal and to remind myself to get back up and get going when I got knocked down. Im happy to hear that it has helped other people through rough times as well.
lyrics
I found myself today in a different way,
The words I said didn’t make any sense,
But I wrapped my head around it,
And he’s no match for me at all,
Ive come this far just to watch me fall far from the pedestal you put me on,
Oh, what will I become If I keep this up?
Oh, when will I become whats good enough?
It was the perfect time of day, for me to find myself
Betrayed by the habits of my youthful years,
And I know, I know, it seems as though im lost,
But I confide in knowing the cost of what it takes to look in the mirror,
Oh, what will I become If I keep this up?
Oh, when will I become whats good enough?
Oh, what will I become, will I become?
Ive been waiting on myself
